Welcome to Mega-Bite Inshore Charters, Light Tackle Inshore Fishing for Redfish, Trout, Spanish, Sheepshead and more. Pensacola, Navarre, Perdido Key Florida - Fishing Reports - Brought to you by Capt. John Rivers
Spring
Break is over and now it is time to get back on the flats and pull out the
boxes of artificials! I went out recently to do a little scouting to see how
the trout and redfish bite was on the flats, and was very pleased with what I
found. I checked some of my honey holes that usually hold nice slot reds, and
they were already producing some nice bites. The trout bite was pretty good
too; I caught a lot with a variety of baits from MirrOlure’s Top Dog, which is
a top water lure, as well as their suspending twitch baits like the MirrOdine
17MR and Paul Brown. I also pulled out some new ZMan’s Baits, like the 5”
Paddler Z in Bad Shad; this color put some nice fish in the boat on my scouting
trip.
This spring, I had a great time fishing the
pass while showing my clients what the annual sheepshead run was all about.
This is the only time I exclusively use live bait. I prefer artificials most of
the time I go out, but I will bring live bait out for trout and redfish if I
have anglers who want to try both techniques.
