Pensacola Fishing - Spring Break not far off
Not much to report the past few days besides lots of rain
and wind.
With over 3.5” of rain in the past three days, it’s been
tough to get out.
However, I did manage to get out a couple of times before the bad weather came in and the inshore bite was good quality. I’m happy to say that the sheepsheads are starting to make their appearance in the pass and in a few other places in the bay. Not only are the sheepshead showing up, the inshore red snapper bite in Pensacola Bay has been outstanding. Some big reds are still around in the bay, and this makes for some fun light tackle action.

With all the freshwater runoff from the rivers, the upper
bay trout and reds are going to be pushed down south a bit; they will still be
in the upper bay areas, just not as far north. As the water temp continues to
rise, some of the trout and reds will start to make their way back to the
sound. A lot of these fish will keep their residence in both Escambia and
Blackwater Bay but a lot will still head to the lower bay areas for the summer
months.
It’s only a few more weeks away and Spring Break will be
here and the annual sheepshead bite will be in full swing.
I’m hoping to break the 9lb –10 lb mark this year with a sheepshead. Last year we got one that was almost 9 lbs, and on light tackle spinning rods, it is a blast to be sure.

The weather is supposed to clear around Tuesday or Wednesday
this upcoming week and then I’ll be back out. I will be going to the pass to do
sheepshead drift, and also check a few of my rocky bottom areas in the bay to
see how the bottom bite is in the bay.
I am getting booked up pretty solid in March, so if you’re heading down this way and are looking for the finest inshore light tackle fun family / professional fishing trip, then you’ve come to the right place.

Pensacola Fishing - Cold front specks and reds
Cold front specks and reds – Mega-Bite Inshore Charters
I’m hoping this is one of the last major cold fronts; I’m
ready for spring and a little warmer temps. With temps close to 30 degrees in
the morning and an incoming tide all day this week it doesn’t hurt to wait till
around 9am to splash the boat. This will give the fish a chance to move up on
the flats and start warming themselves, and me an extra couple hours of
shuteye.
With lots of wind and rain a couple of days back I was not
able to get out. This week’s patterns will be waiting for the sun to come up a
bit, and fishing in depths from 2-6 ft on muddy bottoms, and tossing scented
soft plastics and suspending twitch baits.
As I have reported in my last few reports, Spring Break is
not far off, which in turn means big sheepshead, redfish, snapper, grouper and
more. It’s a plethora of fish and tons of fun, and lots of light tackle action
for sure.
If you are planning a trip this spring to Pensacola, Navarre
or Perdido Key, then check out my reports from last year to see what you could
be catching if you come down for a fishing adventure aboard the Mega-Bite.
Stay tuned for some great action pics from this week’s
trips.

Pensacola Fishing Report
Pensacola Fishing
Report Feb 4th
Spring Break is not far off, See link below
for March 2012 reports

Quick report for
the past couple of days.
No
charters the past few days, So I went scouting
to see how
the bite was in the upper bay areas.
The
bite was pretty good, lots of specks in the 14" range with
some between 15-18" and a couple over 20". I'm tossing
a variety of baits, it depends upon weather
and wind and water clarity.
I'll
be on the water off and on this week. Check back often for
updates and more pics. Also check out my face book page.

Pensacola Inshore Charters - Redfish Fun!
Pensacola Inshore Sheepshead & Red Fishing Drag Screaming Fun
Spring Break is only weeks away. What's great about fishing in March is you can catch a variety of fish like sheepshead, redfish, red snapper, black drum and grouper.
We fish Pensacola Pass for a variety of fish listed above, but if you like flats fishing it is also exceptional this time of year for slot reds and fun light tackle trout.
The key to successfully fishing both areas is to closely watch the tides. Some folks like the outgoing tide better than the incoming, but I have found that as long as the water's moving, the bite is great.
Pensacola Beach is known for being a great place to spend Spring Break especially for families because of the variety of water activities, and fishing is one of the number one draws to this area.
If you are new to the area and want to learn how to fish our waters, or if you have a boat here while on vacation, then book one of my Saltwater Academy Charters, Pensacola’s Finest Instructional Fishing Charter; proven techniques that catch fish!
